The Mauritius Sports Council in close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Commission for Youth & Sports, Labour & Employment of Rodrigues organised a series of courses in Rodrigues from the 30 July to 01 August 2007.
 
The delegation from the MSC included the Chairman, Mr. D. S. Khamajeet, Mr. Achelay Mocudé, Mr. B. Mootoosamy, Mr. Jacques Malié, Mr. Michel Chang Kye, Mr. Gérard Requin, Dr. Yehya Oomar and Mrs. A. Gowreesungkur.

On Monday 30 July 2007, a seminar on Sports Management was held at Malabar Gymnasium for members of regional sports committees of Rodrigues. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. J C Agathe, Commissioner of Sports and officials from the MSC. Forty members from respective regional sports committee participated. Mr. Jacques Malié intervened on the roles and responsibilities of members of sports associations and managing meetings. On the same occasion, the MSC proceeded with the donation of books to the Commission for Youth & Sports for the setting up of a Sports Library in Rodrigues. Mr. Achelay Mocudé, Member of the MSC and ex-International football player was presented to the audience as a role model in Sports. He made a speech describing his career and contribution on football.

On Tuesday 31 July 2007, the workshop on Sports Medicine for coaches and Physical Education teachers was held at the Malabar Gymnasium. The following issues were presented and discussed:

  • Sports & Health / anti-doping by Mr. Gérard Requin.
  • The importance of good nutrition by Mrs. A. Gowreesungkur.
  • Sports & Trauma by Dr Yehya Oomar.
  • Prevention & First Aid Physiotherapy Treatment of Sports Injuries by Mr. Michel Chang Kye.
On Wednesday 01 August, a workshop on Sports Medicine for students was held. Same issues as mentioned above were presented and discussed.

The delegation also visited the Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues, Sports Infrastructure namely the Camp du Roi Stadium, Maréchal Swimming Pool, Regional Football Grounds and the “Ecole de Judo” at Malabar.
